Unfair Dismissal

Not all employees are eligible under the unfair dismissal laws.  You must have 6, or in some cases 12 months minimum service.  You must show your dismissal was harsh, unjust, or unreasonable and you must apply within 21 days of your termination.  Press this icon for more.

Discrimination

Under the Anti-Discrimination Act if you are discriminated against at work on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender, impairment, sexual preference/harassment, unionism, pregnancy and a range of other matters you may be entitled to compensation.  Press this icon for more.

General Protections

Employees are protected from an employer taking ‘Adverse Action’ against the employee under what is called “General Protections”.  Adverse action may include dismissal, bullying, demotion, removal of entitlements or other unfair treatment of the employee.  

Unpaid Wages

Injuries at Work

The Workplace Health & Safety Act requires employers to create a safe working environment for all employees.  If you are physically or mentally injured at work, you may be entitled to workers compensation payments under Workcover.  Click here for more

Workplace Bullying

If you are being bullied at work, you have a right to make a complaint to your employer and your employer has an obligation to put a stop to it.  If your employer fails to meet that obligation – you can get a “Stop Bullying” Order.   Click this icon to find out how.
